Over four distinctly curated events, the words and music of some the House’s most famous former residents will be celebrated through exciting interpretations by a highly talented roster of current residents from around the world who proudly share the experience and honor of learning through living at the legendary 500 Riverside Drive institution.
Resident performers include graduate students from Julliard, Manhattan School of Music, and Mannes School of Music, as well as highly talented part-time musicians studying engineering, economics, law, education, and other areas at Columbia, NYU and other area institutions.

A Tribute to Sakura Sweethearts at I-House
In addition to being a renowned hub for successful cross-cultural learning and collaboration, International House has also been where hundreds of great romances have begun. These Sakura Sweethearts, named for the cherry blossom-lined park that borders the House’s front gates, have been part of the I-House experience for generations. They include well known couples like Paul and Daisy M. Soros, who met at I-House in the 1950s, as well as couples who built lives together despite ethnic, religious or other barriers that may have kept them apart had they met anywhere else. This concert of original compositions and romantic tunes chosen by our residents will celebrate the special loves, friendships and relationships that have been built through life at the House. In addition to resident performers, Sakura Sweethearts Michele Herman (’85) and Jonathan Kuhn (’85) will share a number from the cabaret act they’ve done at Don’t Tell Mama in Greenwich Village.
Tickets: $30 Advance, $35 at the door
We hope you will join us for this exciting new series. Your support will be paramount in helping us raise needed funds to sustain the important mission and legacy of cross-cultural learning and understanding the House, as well as provide financial aid opportunities for students in need.
