Think, Move and Grow – After School Enrichment Program
Harriet Tubman Learning Center – CS 154
An afterschool program offers a book club, chess instruction, drumming and photography twice a week to thirty 3rd-5th grade students performing under grade level in reading and math. Through these classes, students express themselves creatively, learn and practice critical thinking skills and increase self-esteem, all while building reading and math skills. While teachers facilitate program activities, Think, Move and Grow is a peer-led model where students take initiative over their learning. Students participating in the program have shown measurable improvements on their assessments after a few months and funding would help to continue the program.
