Community Messages The following message was sent to the Barnard community on March 15, 2019:
Dear Members of the Barnard Community,
Together, we join the global community in mourning the victims of Friday’s act of terrorism against Muslims praying in two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our hearts are broken by this tragedy and for all whose lives have been touched by this horrifying cruelty and the abhorrent bigotry that inspired it. A vigil is being held today at Columbia’s Earl Hall at 2:30 p.m.
At painful, difficult times like this, we encourage students to reach out to the following on-campus resources as needed:
Dean of Studies Office: 105 Milbank Hall, (212) 854-2024
Furman Counseling Center: phone lines will remain open through spring break with some clinicians available during the day at 100 Hewitt Hall, (212) 854-2092
After-hours psychological emergency line: (855) 622-1903
After-hours clinician on call: (855) 622-1903
International SOS for those students who are abroad and can contact +1-215-942-8478
Faculty and staff are encouraged to utilize Humana, the College’s Employee Assistance Program. Information is available at 800-448-4358 and https://humana.com/eap.
In the aftermath of hateful acts near and far, please know that we grieve and come together as a community in support of one another.
