Notice something new on Barnard’s campus? With #BarnardYearOfScience officially underway, we’re thrilled to introduce the “Weecha” sculpture — on loan to the College until July 2022. Located between the Diana Center and Altschul Hall, this stunning 800-pound, 8-foot tall glass creation was inspired by world-renowned metamorphic petrologist Maria Luisa “Weecha” Crawford — a pioneer for #WomenInSTEM.

“The purpose of this sculpture is to draw the students closer in, to generate curiosity, so they learn not only about “Weecha” Crawford, but about the STEM program at Barnard,” says artist @thehenryrichardson.

Come check it out and take photos next time you’re walking through campus! It’s even lit up at night 🤩.
