This Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we want to recognize the work our community is doing to help survivors of sexual assault.
In 2012, Barnard alumna Rachel Cohen ’77 founded Common Threads Project (CTP) to support survivors of sexual and gender-based violence through the healing practice of sewing story cloths. “Women need each other to create a new narrative about what has happened to them to replace the shame, self-blame, and guilt with a sense of solidarity and pride,” she says.
Check out some of the story cloths from CTP’s exhibit “The Fabric of Healing” above and visit the link in bio to read about Cohen’s global healing therapy work.
