A Celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III

“The City University Black Male Initiative in collaboration with The Abyssinian Baptist
Church in Harlem, have come together to celebrate the “Distinguished Vision, Legacy, and
Community Leadership” of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the beloved Rev. Dr. Calvin O.
Butts III, former Senior Pastor, Abyssinian Baptist Church. Iconic “Morehouse Brothers”,
leaders and activists at the forefront of our ongoing struggle as African people in America,
to obtain Human Rights and Social Justice.

This “first time” CUNY BMI-Abyssinian MLK-COB III Celebration is a joyous city-wide
community-friendly event to uplift the undeniable importance, mission, purpose, and
dedication of both Dr. King and Dr. Butts as “Visionary Activists” in our struggle for Social
Justice and Human Rights. True Activism anchored by “Education, Faith, Social Justice, and
Equal Access”, are the core of this celebration.
