Barnard Trans Awareness Week Keynote Speech by lea robinson
Join us for the 2nd annual Trans Awareness Week event with keynote speaker lea robinson! lea is a trans, queer, nonbinary, butch and multiracial activist, educator, and actor. After spending 20+ years as a Higher Education administrator in DEI and LGBTQIA work, lea landed a leading role in Amazon hit series A League of Their Own! Before that, lea acted in Lena Waithe’s Twenties. In Twenties, lea played Reverend Ty Harmon, a nonbinary religious figure, and in A League of Their Own lea played Bertie Hart, a Black transmasculine, nonbinary identified person living in the 1940s. Both of these roles sparked national conversations about the histories of trans people in the US, the invisibility of certain identities within particular communities, and the value of representation in the industry. Lunch will be provided from 4West Lounge, a Black, queer owned local bar and restaurant.
