Black Arts Movement: Examined Part II | Dutchman Film Screening and Discussion
Harlem Stage and Maysles Documentary Center present Amiri Baraka’s 1967 critically acclaimed film, Dutchman. The film tells the story of a Black man who, while riding an NYC subway, becomes the fixation of a white woman on the train. Dutchman explores issues of racial oppression, interracial tension, and Black identity in this country.
Following the screening, Harlem Stage Artistic Director & CEO Pat Cruz will speak with writer, poet, and Black Arts Movement artist David Henderson about the film.
