Celebrating Recent Work by Isabel Huacuja Alonso

A New Book Series event honoring Radio for the Millions: Hindi-Urdu Broadcasting Across Borders by Isabel Huacuja Alonso. Radio for the Millions examines the history of Hindi-Urdu radio during the height of its popularity from the 1930s to the 1980s, showing how it created transnational communities of listeners. Drawing on a rich collection of sources, Huacuja Alonso rethinks assumptions about how the medium connects with audiences.

Professor Huacuja Alonso will be joined by panelists Dolores Inés Casillas, Gil Hochberg, and Debashree Mukherjee.

Thursday, January 26, 2023, 4:30 pm EDT | In person at the Heyman Center and online via Zoom.
