“Community Health Workers of Assam during the COVID-19 Pandemic” — a seminar by Hamied Faculty Fellow Daksha Parmar, PhD, Assistant Professor-Development Studies, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Associate Faculty, Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences and Technology, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati Assam. This seminar is presented in the Population and Family Health Department’s Seminar Series.
This talk explores the role and contribution of Community Health Workers (known in India as Accredited Social Health Activists) during the COVID-19 pandemic in the state of Assam. Based on an empirical field study conducted in four districts of Assam, the work aims to understand the challenges faced by these workers in providing COVID care and increasing access to health services with a focus on reproductive and child health services.
