Dancing in the Light – An Afternoon of Dance Performances

City College Center for the Arts, on the campus of City College of New York, is celebrating dance with a free outdoor presentation featuring four outstanding, Harlem based dance companies in the historic St. Nicholas Park on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 3pm – 6pm.  This special event will feature Music from the SoleJerome Hunter of LaRocque Bey School of Dance TheatreSonia Olla & Ismael Fernandez Flamenco Company and Les Ballet Afrik in a three-hour afternoon of dance produced by Monique Martin.  For more information please visit

Gregory Shanck, Managing Director of City College Center for the Arts said, “This is our first time bringing dance into a NYC park and we couldn’t be happier.  Each one of the companies we are presenting have an extraordinary history with Aaron Davis Hall and we are delighted to grow our relations with this special presentation in our neighborhood park.”

Monique Martin, Producer said, “We are thrilled to present a FREE dance festival on the James Baldwin lawn in a historic Harlem park. With all of the challenges the pandemic has forced us to grapple with, it is our joy to gather with you in community to learn popular line dances and experience the brilliant artistry of Harlem based dance artists who are creating brilliant new work.”
