Debate Among the Prophets: Isaiah vs. Jeremiah
Part of ScholarStream, a partnership of the Conservative Movement
Tuesday, April 5, 2022, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET
How did Isaiah and Jeremiah differ on their views of the Temple and Jerusalem and what does their disagreement teach us about prophecy and about Jewish tradition more generally? Dr. Benjamin Sommer, professor of Bible and Ancient Semitic Languages, JTS, will address these questions.
This session is the third in a series of four lectures, “The Power of the Prophets.”
Individuals can sign up at a cost of $25 for the series or for free with a code from a sponsoring congregation.
From October through May this year, JTS is partnering with other Conservative Movement seminaries and institutions to offer eight lecture series featuring outstanding scholars and teachers from across the movement. Synagogues are invited to become ScholarStream cosponsors so that their members may enjoy all of the lectures at no charge.
