Emotional Abuse Within Domestic Violence
This forum is part of the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New York Social Justice Initiative Programming at the Lt. Joseph P Kennedy Community Center located at 34 West 13th Street in Harlem, New York. Annually, the Kennedy Center collaborates with community organizations to address and raise awareness about the warning signs of violent relationships. The subject for this year is the emotional abuse present in domestic violence relationships. Educating individuals to identify abuse helps them to understand that they are not responsible and empowers them to safeguard themselves. The discussion will emphasize methods to disrupt the cycle of emotional abuse and strategies that minimize its impact on future generations. Increasing awareness and educating individuals reduces the stigma that comes with it, which can be life-changing. This open discussion provides open dialogue in a safe setting for victims and promotes wellness and healing among its attendees.
