Environmental Justice Summit
This will be an in-person environmental justice summit from 1pm to 4pm on April 15th, 2022. Building upon the past 12 virtual Columbia Climate Conversations panels focused around climate and social justice, this event invites individuals to learn more about intersectional environmentalism. A keynote presentation will be followed by a Q&A panel featuring environmental justice community-organizers, grassroots activists, and nonprofits based in New York City to dive deeper into housing injustice, the importance of bottom-up climate action, and investigating systemic inequity. The summit will conclude with a creative workshop and mixer for participants to work on climate justice through art and explore their relationships with climate, activism, and the natural world through art. The event will be hosted in Lerner Hall, Room 555, and will be moderated by Columbia undergraduate student and Columbia Climate Conversations creator, Lauren Ritchie, and supported by Kailani Acosta, Benjamin Keisling, and Kwolanne Felix.
The event will be open to anyone who RSVPs, not limited to only Columbia students.
Please note that all visitors must adhere to Columbia’s health and safety policy for visitors, which includes mandatory COVID-19 vaccination.
