Harlem Dance Club FREE Summer Performance Intensive
Harlem Dance Club’s Performance Intensives are all about bonding as a cast that will go on an eight week journey which culminates in the thrilling experience of taking the stage together. You are welcome to join us at the first session to learn more with no commitment to perform at MOTHERSHIP FIVE.
This year we are exploring the genre of Contemporary Dance with a restaging of our classic 2015 piece, “Blind.”
“Blind” is very theatrical with a focus on storytelling through movement. It is set to the song “Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix)” by Hercules & Love Affair. This 2008 track is one of the greatest songs of the 21st Century and remixed by the innovative music icon Frankie Knuckles. It features poetic lyrics and funky horns over a classic house beat.
REHEARSALS: SATURDAYS 1:00 – 3:30 PM August 5th – September 23rd at Pelham Fritz Recreation Center in Marcus Garvey Park (18 Mount Morris Park West @122nd Street.)
Originally performed in 2015 by a cast of 8 Harlem Dance Club founding members, “Blind” has endured as one of our most cherished performances and we are bringing it back in honor of HDC’s 10th Anniversary. “Blind” will be re-staged by Harlem Dance Club teaching artists and original cast members Shavon Marshall, Niki Lassiter and John Clayton Doyle.
