Harlem Opera Tribute to Harry Belafonte
Harlem Opera Theater will Salute Black History with a Tribute to Harry Belafonte, singer, actor, activist, producer at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 7 PM.
The program will feature selections from the Georges Bizet opera “Carmen Jones,” calypso, and spirituals.
Harlem Opera Theater artists: Denisha Ballew, Soprano; Daveda Browne, Mezzo-Soprano; Charles Williamson, Tenor; Virdell Williams, Baritone. Professor Gregory Hopkins, Artistic Director, will accompany the classical singers on piano.
The program is free and open to the public. Registration required.
Please note that registered guests are given priority check-in up to 20 minutes before start time. Just before the program starts all registered seats are released regardless of registration, so we recommend that registered guests arrive early. When all seats are filled no entrance is allowed regardless of registration. There is no overflow seating or standing.
