
Inaugural Nina Garsoïan Memorial Lecture: The Return of the Kingdom
The Inaugural Garsoian Memorial Lecture, to be delivered on 10 November (6pm reception; 7pm talk), will be held in the Low Library Rotunda. Nina Garsoian was the first holder of the Gevork M. Avedissian Chair in Armenian History and Civilization in the Department Middle East Languages and Cultures (MELAC, today known as MESAAS). She passed away last year and this event will honor her remarkable scholarship.
This inaugural lecture will be by Christina Maranci, the Mashtots Professor of Armenian History in the departments of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and the History of Art and Architecture. She will be speaking on her project about Ani, the capital city of the Kingdom of Armenia around the year 1000.
