Making Human Rights Come Alive

For the past 75 years, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) has been the foundational document of international law defining and protecting the basic rights and fundamental freedoms of all human beings. As continuing challenges to human rights persist, from the war in Israel to the war in Ukraine to the Taliban’s control of Afghanistan, the UDHR takes on new relevance at 75. Moderated by Hillary Rodham Clinton, this discussion will feature former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and former President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet; leading historian on the negotiation of the UDHR, Allida Black, prominent Ugandan LGBTI Rights Advocate, Frank Mugisha, and the Nobel Peace Prize-Winning Journalist, Maria Ressa.
