This event is sponsored by The Block / Kolker Center for Spiritual Arts at JTS

Join us at JTS for a collaborative and creative learning experience in preparation for the High Holidays, featuring JTS faculty member Benjamin Kamine, Adjunct Professor of Rabbinic Literature; Rabbinical School student Max Halperin; JTS artist in residence Tobi Kahn; and Leah Schechter-Bennett, participant in the artist-in-residence program. Through study, poetry, and art-making, they will offer participants a taste of the JTS learning experience, the meaning that students make of it, and the remarkable creations that emerge from it.

The program will include the study of midrashim, or rabbinic interpretations, on the Book of Proverbs, specifically focusing on the chapter “Woman of Valor.” Participants will have the opportunity to create their own art pieces inspired by these teachings. During this unique gathering, attendees will experience firsthand the dynamic interplay of knowledge, spirituality, and artistic expression that defines the vibrant community at JTS.
