MeMoSa: We Don’t Own the Rights to Any of This
The Movement Lab presents “We Don’t Own the Rights to Any of This,” a duet mashup of stolen sound bites, moves, and lyrics. Performers + creators + BFFLs Miranda Brown and Noa Weiss use sampling to exploit the nostalgia and seductive power of pop music. In doing so, they explore their personal brand of low stakes dance comedy while forming a coherent world inspired by the chaos of meme culture.
Weiss and Brown have artfully dodged copyright laws by performing this piece as part of Noa’s post-baccalaureate fellowship research, where everything is up for grabs under the Fair Use category of “scholarship.”
MeMoSa begins 7:00pm
Capacity in the lab is capped at 35 audience members. Attendees who have RSVP’d before the event will have priority, and admission will be determined on a first come first serve basis on arrival. If you RSVP before the event but you arrive late, we reserve the right to give your spot to someone on the waitlist.
Attendees who have not RSVP’d will be put on a standby waitlist if they arrive in-person before the event.
