Novel Models to Improve Equity in Function and Independence in Aging

Sarah Szanton, PhD, RN, FAAN, Dean and Patricia M. Davidson Professor for Health Equity and Social Justice at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, joins the Columbia Aging Center for her virtual seminar “Novel models to improve equity in function and independence in older adults.”  Interventions that are tailored to older adults’ strengths, goals, and environments hold great promise in improving equity and functioning.  As the US health system transitions toward population health, fiscal incentives should be aligned for such programs.  This seminar will use one model, the CAPABLE program, to illustrate the drivers and restrainers to equity and improved function in the current US system.
