Title: Co-Teaching in a Gifted Kindergarten Classroom

Allie’s dissertation is investigating co-teacher interaction in one kindergarten classroom in a gifted school in the northeastern U.S. She aims to uncover the interactional practices that teachers engage in to accomplish co-teaching in classrooms with gifted students, and to understand how these practices may facilitate the promotion of student learning and engagement. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a line-by-line analysis of the data with the aid of a transcript and video clip.

Allie Hope King is a doctoral candidate in Applied Linguistics at Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds degrees in French, Spanish, Foreign Language Education, and Applied Linguistics and currently manages the Community Language Program at Teachers College. Her research examines what co-teacher interaction looks like through a conversation analytic lens.

REAL Doc is a forum sponsored by the Studies in Applied Linguistics & TESOL (SALT) journal and dedicated to doctoral student research in education and applied linguistics.
