Reclining Liberty Project
The COVID-19 pandemic showed us the importance of health, peace, and freedom. Zaq Landsberg’s “Reclining Liberty” statue has lived in Morningside Park since last Spring. It will be removed on April 22nd. His big, reclining Statue of Liberty with closed eyes inspires many people. With gratitude for the impact of Zaq’s work over the past year, artists influenced by his work will come together and exercise their freedom by presenting their individual and collective responses to “Reclining Liberty”.
During this pandemic restrictions were in place, and parks became the only place of relaxation that everyone could enjoy equally. Freedom lives in the parks. Let’s have a great time together, interacting and celebrating each other’s freedom with music, dance, poetry, and more, on this beautiful Spring afternoon.
