Startup Works Information Session
Justice-impacted community members* and Columbia University affiliates^ are invited to apply for this practical workshop series that aims to support inclusive startup teams. Participants will learn entrepreneurial skills, form a team with like-minded participants, develop an idea into a working prototype for a startup business, and connect with Columbia’s network of professional and student advisors.
Workshop topics include values and team building, customer identification, business models, and more. All applicants should expect to form a team with a minimum of one justice-impacted person in order to complete the program and be eligible for a startup grant. Join us at an upcoming information session, read the Startup Works flyer, and apply for the 2025 cohort today!
Who can participate?
*Justice-impacted community members include those who have been incarcerated or detained in a prison, immigration detention center, local jail, juvenile detention center, or any other carceral setting, those who have been convicted but not incarcerated, those who have been charged but not convicted, and those who have been arrested.
^Columbia University affiliates include students, faculty, and staff across the CU schools.
