This concert features two hidden gems for string quartet, the Quartet in G Major by Florence Price and the Lyric Quartet by William Grant Still. Paired with these works will be Claude Debussy’s String Quartet, considered a cornerstone of the quartet repertoire.

Violinist, Naho Parrini, a native of Japan, has given numerous solo and chamber music recitals in the United States, Japan, Germany, France, and Bulgaria. She received her BM from North Carolina School of the Arts, and her MM and DMA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her principal teachers include Kevin Lawrence, Mitchell Stern, Philip Setzer, and Pamela Frank. She performs regularly with New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, South Country Concert Series, Mirror Visions Ensemble, and Performance Santa Fe. She is on violin faculty at Bloomingdale School of Music in New York City. She also serves as co-director of the Adult Chamber Music Workshop and violin faculty of Junior Session at Kinhaven Music School in Vermont.

 

Canadian born violinist Jennifer Ahn Misner leads an active career teaching and performing in the New York City area. She received a Masters of Music, and Artist Diploma both from Yale University as a full scholarship recipient under the tutelage of Syoko Aki. Her primary teachers have been Scott St. John, Martin Beaver and Robert Chen. An avid orchestral musician, she has served as concertmaster with the New England Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Summer Music Festival, New York Asian Symphony Orchestra and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan and has held the concertmaster position of the Orchestra of the Shelter Rock since 2011. Jennifer is a former member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra and New Haven Symphony Orchestra and an alumnus of Spoleto, Music Academy of the West, Schleswig Holstein Music Festival in Germany, Cassalmagiore Festival in Italy and Scotiafest of Canada.

 

Canadian violist, Dr. Angela Pickett has enjoyed an incredibly vast and varied performance career. Since her first tour as a violinist and fiddler with Irish tenor John McDermott at age 18, Angela has performed consistently, and is comfortable in many performance styles and settings. After completing a conjoint undergraduate degree in Viola Performance and Music History at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Angela moved to New York City to pursue a Masters Degree at The Juilliard School and a DMA at the Manhattan School of Music where her principal teachers included Sam Rhodes, Michael Tree and Karen Tuttle. Angela is still based in NYC, where she is a Music Director and Chamber Music Coach for Lincoln Center Stage, and can often be seen and heard performing on Broadway stages for various shows including Hamilton and Come From Away.

 

Alberto Parrini is principal cellist of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic and a member of the American Symphony and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He performs regularly with East Coast Chamber Orchestra, Lenape Chamber Ensemble, Lighthouse Chamber Players, Richardson Chamber Players, New Jersey Symphony, New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera. With the Zukofsky Quartet he has given performances of the complete string quartets of Milton Babbitt in New York and Chicago. He performed throughout the U.S. with the American Chamber Players (2004- 2010), was the cellist of the St. Lawrence String Quartet (2002-03) and spent one season as assistant principal with the Richmond Symphony. Alberto has toured North America, Europe and Asia with Mikhail Baryshnikov and the White Oak Dance Project and performed with Arco Ensemble, Concertante, Continuum, Mark Morris Dance Group, Metamorphosen Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Mirror Visions, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Proteus Ensemble and Sinfonietta of Riverdale. His principal teachers were Timothy Eddy, Joel Krosnick, David Soyer, Colin Carrand Enrico Egano; he is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and the Juilliard School. Alberto teaches cello and chamber music at Princeton University. He is also co- director of the Adult Chamber Music Workshop at Kinhaven.
