The Edge of the Backyard: Mapping the Boundaries of the Solar System
Join us in Pupin Hall 301 on Friday, April 28, at 7:00pm for our final public astronomy event of the 2022-2023 academic year!
Columbia Astronomy PhD student Ben Cassese will be giving a public talk titled “The Edge of the Backyard: Mapping the Boundaries of the Solar System“:
“Despite its relative proximity compared to other treasures of the night sky, the edge of our solar system has only started to come into focus in the last few decades. We’ve only now started to map out our borders — and there are hints there is much more to find. What do we know of so far, and what might still be out there?“
We’ll kick off the evening at 7:00pm with some astronomy trivia, followed by Ben’s talk and Q&A. From 8:10-9:10pm, we will be outside stargazing on College Walk (weather permitting).
