The Gender of God in Ancient Israel
Part of our spring learning series, Relating to God
This session is generously sponsored by Linda and Ronald F Daitz and by Yale Asbell, JTS trustee.
Monday, May 2, 2022, 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET
Online
With Dr. Benjamin Sommer, Professor of Bible and Ancient Semitic Languages
How did the biblical authors, and other Israelites, view the gender of God? Did they perceive God to be male? Did any of them perceive God as female? To answer this question, we will examine both several biblical texts as well as archaeological evidence.
If you have previously registered for another session in this series, your registration admits you to all sessions in the series, and you may attend as many as you’d like.
Note: The Zoom link for this session will be in the confirmation email that you will receive after you register.
