Autocrats have repressed opposition movements with strikingly similar “anti-terrorism” and “national (read “regime”) security” measures. Not content with silencing dissent at home, they have pursued opposition leaders who have continued transnational advocacy in exile. This talk will focus on Hong Kong while highlighting similarities in a global cascade of transnational repression.
