Who is responsible? A critical look at curricular materials in climate change education
When it comes to teaching about climate change, educators often rely on the existing texts available within their school or classroom library. However, when these texts present a range of viewpoints on the responsibility for mitigating climate change effects, how should teachers approach them? Join us in this webinar where we will delve into a spectrum-based analysis approach to guide educators in their selection and utilization of such texts. This process will equip participants with the tools to critically evaluate both textual and visual depictions of climate change responsibilities. We will explore a diverse range of elementary-level trade books, assessing their strengths, weaknesses, and potential ambiguities in depicting who bears responsibility for climate change and the actions that should be taken, if any.
The webinar is open to the public. Register here.
