Happy Labor Day from the Cathedral! In a typical year, this unofficial end of summer brings the excitement of finalizing programs and events for the fall, the joy of catching up with colleagues who have been off the Close for the summer, and the promise of new memories and experiences. This year, of course, it all looks different. Our plans are made knowing they can change at any moment, any reconnections are from six feet away, and the thought of new experiences carries the weight of the unknown coupled with the weariness of having been through so many unwanted new experiences already.
Still, as the days pass and we continue to move through this world of the unknown, we’re learning just how creative and flexible we can be. We’re having conversations about why we do what we do and what makes our traditions so meaningful. We’re reminded of how different things are, yet what is most important—our connections to each other—remains as strong as ever.
