All are invited to join us on February 18, what would have been Audre Lorde’s 87th birthday, to celebrate her induction to the American Poets Corner at the Cathedral. Her liberatory political vision, demonstrated through her intensely personal writing, has inspired readers, writers, and activists for deacades and continues to impact all who come into contact with her work. The program will feature readings and reflections from fellow poets (including Poet-in-residence Marie Howe and US Poet Laureate Joy Harjo) and members of Lorde’s family. The ceremony will take place over Zoom at 6pm. Registration info: https://www.stjohndivine.org/calendar/38457/american-poets-corner-the-induction-of-audre-lorde
This Black History Month, the Cathedral is honored to celebrate those whose work illuminates the path to justice. We will continue to share the words of past inductees who impacted our nation’s fight for equality.
