Ralph Ellison, inducted into the American Poets Corner in 2019, was an author, literary critic, and scholar best known for his award-winning novel Invisible Man. A widely-acclaimed critical essayist and political writer, Ellison produced troves of powerful work on identity, race, and class.

Throughout this Black History Month, we will continue to share words from several Poets Corner inductees whose work embodies liberation, political consciousness, and social identity.
