This is the scintillating Finale from Elfrida Andrée’s Organ Symphony No. 1 in B Minor. Andrée won the position of organist at Göteborg Cathedral in 1867, making her the first female cathedral organist in Europe. It’s easy to tell from this piece that she had absolutely blazing technique – she wrote for the organ with a truly orchestral sense of color and sweep. See Associate Director of Music, Ray Nagem, perform works by Andrée, Bach, and Bingham tonight on Tuesdays at 6. Concert will stream for free on our Facebook, website, and YouTube.
