While the Cathedral doesn’t have a chapel dedicated to St. Patrick, one of our seven Chapels of the Tongues commemorates his fellow countryman. St. Columba was an Irish abbot and evangelist active in the mid 6th century, and is one of Ireland’s patron saints, along with Saints Patrick and Brigid. The Cathedral’s Chapel of St. Columba honors the people of Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales, particularly those who made the journey from their native lands to the United States at the turn of the 19th century.

We wish you a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day today–and, looking ahead to June 7, a happy feast day of St. Columba!
