Zora Neale Hurston, inducted into the American Poets Corner in 2015, was a world-renowned author, anthropologist, and filmmaker whose work often depicted African American life in the twentieth-century South. Her literarature is vivid and descriptive, known for unabashed themes of desire, freedom, and power.

Throughout this Black History Month, we will continue to share the life and work of several Poets Corner inductees whose writing inspires us and guides us along the path towards justice.

We are honored to induct Audre Lorde into the American Poets Corner this year on her birthday, Thursday February 18th. More details at https://www.stjohndivine.org/calendar/38457/american-poets-corner-the-induction-of-audre-lorde
