In May, students from the Urban Assembly School for Performing Arts visited the Morris-Jumel Mansion for a hands-on lesson about the arts of the Harlem Renaissance as part of a collaboration between Columbia’s Connecting Youth Initiative and Mellon Foundation Artist in Residence Program. They were treated to a piano performance, saw pictures of Duke Ellington, and more.
