Repost from @columbia: As the 47th annual Harlem Week came to a close this week, Lisa Herndon (JRN’16), with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, captured this footloose and fancy-free photo of a participant grooving alongside a group of people doing a line dance to Lauryn Hill’s (& the Fugees’) remake of “Killing Me Softly” on Sunday.
“He looked so happy and carefree that I wanted to capture the moment,” Herndon said.
Columbia is a proud sponsor of Harlem Week each year, and the late great (mayor & SIPA professor) David Dinkins was instrumental in the creation of Harlem Day (now Harlem Week) 47 years ago.
