Ambassador Juan Gabriel Valdés served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile from 1999-2000 and Ambassador of Chile to the United States from 2014-2018. He previously served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Chile to the United Nations and Ambassador of Chile to the Republic of Argentina and the Kingdom of Spain. Mr. Valdés holds an M.A. in Latin American studies from the University of Essex and a PhD in Political Science from Princeton University. Mr. Valdés served as a research fellow at Princeton University and Notre Dame’s Kellogg Institute.
