Antigone in Ferguson

October 16, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join B’scursions for Antigone in Ferguson, a groundbreaking project that fuses dramatic readings Sophocles’ Antigone with live choral music performed by a diverse choir, from St. Louis, Missouri and New York City. The event will be followed by a discussion with community panelists and the director of the production, focusing on racialized violence, police brutality, systemic oppression, gender-based violence, health inequality, and social justice. In light of the uprising and protests catalyzed by the killings of Michael Brown, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tony McDade, Dion Johnson, and many others; and the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on black and brown communities.
