September 24, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This year marks the 50th anniversary of El Chavo del Ocho, a Mexican television show that has been entertaining audiences across Latin America and beyond with humorous images of childhood while teaching about the true value of human connections. What are those teachings? Why is El Chavo still latent in the region’s popular imaginary?

A conversation with
Daniel Friedrich (Teachers College, Columbia University) and Erica Colmenares (San José State University),
authors of Resonances of El Chavo del Ocho in Latin American Childhood, Schooling and Societies and CC student Ricardo Mercado
