Feast of Saint Francis & Blessing of the Animals
October 4, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
St. Francis Day is coming up! This year’s online extravaganza is a great way to celebrate your pet. Send stories and photos to us, and you might just see them pop up in videos throughout the day! With blessings, children’s activities, and info on local animal rescue organizations, this special day has something for everyone—all species welcome!
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine welcomes you to a day of music, prayer, joy, blessings and fun in honor of Saint Francis, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
While we cannot gather in person this year for the Service or the Outdoor Fair, we’re excited to offer an online extravaganza that will include pet blessings, children’s activities, and a behind-the-scenes look at the history of one of our most beloved days of the year! The full line up and schedule will be released as the day approaches.
Your favorite furry, feathered, or finned companions are invited to take part in this celebratory day as well! To have your pet included in our St. Francis Day festivities, please email photos, names, social media handles and stories to firstname.lastname@example.org. All species are welcome!
Everyone who RSVPs or sends us a memento about their pet will receive a commemorative certificate. We’ll also follow up with the opportunity to add on a distinct commemorative charm, which can be worn by either you or your pet. Other items, including a matching bandana set, will also be available.
If you’d like to help make this event and others like it possible, please considering donating to the Cathedral.
Can’t wait to “see” you there!
