Please join Columbia’s Harriman Institute, Armenian Center, and Center for the Advancement of Public Integrity for an Innovating Solutions to Systemic Corruption in Eurasia Forum event on “Building a National Integrity System for Prevention of Corruption in Armenia.”
- Introduction by Alexander Cooley, co-chair of Innovating Solutions to Systemic Corruption in Eurasia Forum; Director of the Harriman Institute; Claire Tow Professor of Political Science at Barnard College
- Haykuhi Harutyunyan, Chair, Commission on the Prevention of Corruption in Armenia
- Adam Stefan, Director, Democracy and Governance Office, USAID Armenia
- Moderated by Matthew Murray, co-chair of Innovating Solutions to Systemic Corruption in Eurasia Forum and Adjunct Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University
The Forum will feature a discussion among leading reformers, practitioners and experts who have been driving post-Velvet Revolution Armenia to build a new institution, the Commission on Prevention of Corruption, to strengthen governance and implement a whole-of-society strategy for building integrity in Armenia on a sustainable basis.
The first Chair of the Commission, Haykuhi Harutyunyan, will impart insights on how the institution is being built from the ground up based on Armenian values and global best practices since its foundation in November 2019. Adam Stefan will discuss the innovations and methodologies that USAID has introduced to support the foundation and launching of the Commission. Matthew Murray, who has been providing expert advice and technical assistance on global best practices to help the Government of Armenia design and launch operations for the Commission since May 2019, will moderate.
The Innovating Solutions to Systemic Corruption in Eurasia Forum helps generate solutions to counter systemic corruption in countries in Eurasia and other regions. During interactive sessions, participants incubate solutions that integrate new models and tools from across disciplines, including academia, government, law enforcement, finance and social media.
