TECH COMMONS @ NEW-YORK HISTORICAL
New-York Historical Society’s Tech Commons is a state-of-the-art digital media and STEM maker space where teens can work with mentors, meet friends, and create.
The Tech Commons is loaded with a full array of digital equipment from fun to professional, designed to spark imaginations and help tomorrow’s leaders follow their curiosity. Design a video game, record and edit music or a podcast, do 3D modeling and 3D printing, use Adobe Creative Cloud, code an app or website, or build robotics and circuitry.
The space is self-directed, so participants can make exactly what they want. Try something new, or take existing skills to the next level! Stop by once or come many times to build your own complex projects.

Drop-In Hours for Teens (ages 13 to 19)
Thursday and Friday 3-6 pm, Saturday 10 am – 4:30 pm, Sunday 11 am – 4:30 pm
Any teen can walk in at any point during open hours. A friendly tech mentor will greet you and show you what’s in the space. You’re welcome to use any equipment or software on your own or with friends. Work on any project you want, from fun to school-related or professional. No prior experience in technology is required! Or just do homework, hang out, meet new friends.
Tech mentors are always available in the Tech Commons during drop-in hours. They are professional-level tech experts trained in a range of digital media skills to help you with any project you want. Our tech mentors work with teens at all digital skill levels, beginners and beyond. You also are welcome to use the space without the tech mentors. It’s up to you how deep you want to go!
