Morningside Lights is a free weeklong arts event led by the directors of Processional Arts Workshop, Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles, and produced by Columbia University’s Arts Initiative and Miller Theatre. Help create a fleet of lanterns during a week of workshops that will culminate in an illuminated procession of public art in Morningside Park.
Morningside Lights: TRAVERSE
For 100 years, the Pulitzer Prizes have celebrated the great writers and artists of our time. This fall, makers and marchers participating in our community-created lantern procession will have a chance to literally illuminate favorite passages by great poets who have received this unique honor over the past century.
Lantern workshop times vary – please see details and register at www.morningside-lights.com or call 212-851-9574.
Morningside Lights concept and direction by Processional Arts Workshop. Co-produced by the Arts Initiative and Miller Theatre at Columbia University, in collaboration with Friends of Morningside Park. This year’s theme was developed in collaboration with Columbia’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library, and their concurrent exhibition celebrating the Pulitzer Prize centennial.
