The Climate Imperative: Meeting the Moment

April 21, 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Climate Imperative: Meeting the Moment moderated by Jeff Berardelli, CBS News Meteorologist, with Alex Halliday and Maureen Raymo

About this Event

We can already see the effects of a changing climate. Last year saw record numbers of hurricanes and wildfires, and was the worst year for polar ice melt. Research leaders around the world believe that the next decade will require unprecedented, powerful, action to curb greenhouse gas emissions and avoid the most catastrophic climate impacts. Join us online for a special Earth Day conversation as Jeff Berardelli, CBS News Meteorologist, turns the spotlight on Alex Halliday, Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute; and Maureen Raymo, Interim Director of Columbia’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

The Speakers:

Jeff Berardelli is CBS News’ meteorologist, climate specialist and an alum of the Columbia Climate and Society program.

Maureen Raymo is Interim Director of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, G. Unger Vetlesen Professor of Earth & Environmental Sciences, and Director of the Lamont-Doherty Core Repository.

Alex Halliday is the Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute.
