VLA Workshop: Introduction to Patents for Artists

This class will provide an overview of the patents and patent law suitable for non-lawyers as well as lawyers unfamiliar with patents.
TOPICS COVERED:
- History of patents
- How patents fit into the U.S. legal system and economy
- What rights patents do and do not provide to those who obtain or own them
- Components of a patent and the process for obtaining a patent
- How patents are enforced, how to defend against accusations of patent infringement, and legal actions and remedies related to patent law
Continuing Legal Education: This program offers 1.5 Professional Practice CLE Credit (Approved for Non-Transitional and Transitional Attorneys).
