Banned Books Week: Reading Toni Morrison’s Beloved

Thursday, September 22 | 6:30 PM | Schomburg Center
Few books have inspired, moved, and changed readers more than Toni Morrison’s Beloved. Few books have also been challenged by those who would seek to censor and ban works of art quite like Morrison’s works. To honor the legacy of Toni Morrison—who was named a NYPL Library Lion in 1982 and named a Life Trustee for the Library in 2006—an all-star lineup of writers, actors, and thinkers will return to her indelible work with readings, performances, and conversations. Guests include vocalist and composer Alicia Hall Moran, educator Dr. Imani Perry, and Vice President and Executive Editor in the Knopf Doubleday division of Penguin Random House Erroll McDonald. Produced in partnership with LIVE from NYPL.
