Enjoy the last day of Hanukkah and our last riddle answer!
Last week we asked: Explain how if you take (1) What Joseph found (מצא), (2) what Joseph was dressed in, (3) what Joseph’s price was, and (4) what got added to Joseph’s name, you will get Hanukkah!
The answer is: Joseph found favor (“חן”) in Potiphar’s eyes (Genesis 37:4); When Pharaoh promoted him, he was dressed in fine linen (שש) (Genesis 41:42). שש means six, which is represented by the letter “ו” (Vav); Joseph had been sold for twenty pieces of silver (Genesis 37:28), and twenty is represented by the letter “כ” (Kaf); and finally, in Psalm 81:6, Joseph’s name is spelled יהוסף, with an additional “ה”. Now, ח, נ, ו, כ, ה spells חנוכה.
