The Met Will Stage Its First Opera by a Black Composer

Congratulations to Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated jazz musician and composer Terence Blanchard (HonDMA ’17), a member of Manhattan School of Music Board of Trustees, and of our Artistic Advisory Council.

His opera “Fire Shut up in My Bones” could be produced by the The Metropolitan Opera as early as next season. The company is making plans to bring Terence Blanchard’s “Fire Shut Up in My Bones” to New York.
