After months of planning, the 12th Annual OHNY Weekend is now just three weeks away! As we head into the home stretch, I wanted to reach out to you, as the Primary Contact for your site or tour, to go over a few housekeeping items. To wit:
There are a number of important dates coming up over the next few weeks. Here are the highlights:
Wednesday, 9/24: Site & Tour Sponsor Reception (Wollman Hall, 6-8pm, Click here to register)
Tuesday, 9/30: OHNY Weekend Guide & web listings go live at ohny.org; printed guides become available at a dozen info hubs around the five boroughs
Wednesday, 10/1: Reservations for Advanced Reservation tours go live at ohny.org
Thursday, 10/2: The issue of Time Out New York with 150,000 Weekend Guide inserts hits subscriber mailboxes and newsstands
Week of 10/6: Volunteer contacts will be emailed to you early in the week; toward the end of the week, sites and tours requiring Advanced Reservations will be emailed their attendee lists. Site & Tour Sponsors should also expect to hear from the District Coordinators, who will help manage volunteers and can assist with any issues that arise during the Weekend, at some point during this week, if not sooner.
Thursday, 10/9: OHNY Weekend Launch Party (Prince George Ballroom, 6-9pm, Click here to purchase tickets)
Friday, 10/10: Factory Friday
Saturday & Sunday, 10/11-12: The 12th Annual OHNY Weekend
Promotion: While OHNY mounts a massive PR effort in the months directly preceding the Weekend that generates millions of impressions through print, television, and social media, we always encourage sites to help spread the word about the event.
Logos & Text: Many of you have written to request OHNY’s official logo and boilerplate text about the Weekend. Please find both in the attached document for use in your own promotional materials advertising your site’s participation in OHNY Weekend. If you are promoting the event online and would like to link through to our site, we recommend using http://www.ohny.org/weekend/overview
Social Media: This year we are using the official #OHNYwknd hashtag in all social media related to the event, and hope that you will do the same! You can find more from us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I’ve included a few pre-written tweet-length posts that you can copy and use on your own accounts in the attached document—or, of course, feel free to create your own!
Signage & Surveys: Along with volunteer contacts, you will receive an email from me closer to the event with PDF versions of the official OHNY Weekend poster and OHNY Weekend surveys. OHNY asks that sites print and make surveys available during their participation, as the surveys are vital to planning the festival from year to year.
